The long awaited update from Facebook is here! Messenger now has a chat plugin which will enable users to initiate a Facebook Messenger thread with a business on that brand’s own website.
As you can see from the video below, the new option will enable businesses to add an integrated Messenger chat option right on their site, which will also enable them to maintain that thread within Messenger from then on.
Since the conversations sync, a conversation can begin on a website and continue on Messenger. This would help business build create touchpoints and engage with users after they have left the website building a seamless flow. This also makes Messenger a clear winner when compared to Intercom or Zopim as it provides a way to identify the user, personalise messages to him and engage at any point in the day.
The new addition of the Facebook messenger platform is only one of several ways Facebook has been targeting business customers in recent months. Earlier this year, Facebook has introduced new discovery mechanisms for finding messenger bots, and it allowed its messenger in-app assistance to suggest businesses’ bots when relevant to conversations. Facebook even tested messenger ads that would allow businesses to reach the app’s users with offers to chat, shop up for things, and more.
Qrius has already integrated the chat plugin within its product which means that you get to use it from day 1 with no code changes at your end.
